Many thanks to Kimberly Jones Parks, who graciously provided this information.
UPDATE: Thanks to Randall Wright for sending in his updated transcription.  He says it is up to date as of Feb. 2009.

Eagle Creek Cemetery is located west of Harleton, Texas on Hwy 154 W.(Approximately 15 miles west of Marshall) It was established in 1852 by Tyre Elias and Vashti Daugherty Gibbs Narramore. They arrived in Texas in 1832 from Georgia and settled in the Smyra community. Vashti, age 21 was single with children of a previous marriage. She was one of the first women in Texas to receive a Land Patent, a 640 acre tract, still called the Vashti Gibbs survey. Vashti and Tyre were married in 1839.
