Mrs Sampson Shirley's Civil War Pension Application

Elizabeth Jane was 72 at the time of the application and she states that she has resided in Harleton Texas for 32 years . Under physical condition she states she has Bad Blood in one eye and other one is bad.

Were you married to Sampson anterior to March 1,1866? yes in 1846.

What was the date of his death?  July 4th,1875.

Ask what company and regiment Sampson served in: (The writing is dificult to read at this point so I will just type what it looks like) have forgotten Cousps NY and Regiment Lt. Manning served three years. No service in Navy.

It asks other income level questions and then has her mark and someone signs her name. Mrs. Shirley's witnesses are D. W. Perkins and Nancy Starr, they both make their marks and someone puts their names.

This was sworn to the 2nd day of Jun 1900. The Judges name is difficult to make out but he is a County Judge for Harrison Co and his name looks like H.S. Lyttleton. The Judge puts his hand and Seal in Marshall.

It then has the signatures of the Commissioners, J.D. McJimey, Jno Nor W Farah, T.J Whaley, Lu Killingarrarth and the Commissioners signed on Aug 17th 1900.

Pension Clerk W. J Swain signs off on its approval and then Comptroller R.V(or N) Finley both on Sept 17,1900.

The Pension Application Number is 7479
