HOPEWELL CEMETERY

Our thanks go to the Upshur County Historical Commission for allowing us to use their reading of Hopewell Cemetery.  The reading was done by: Thurman Hearn, Thurman Cagle, Durward Amos, Finley Tucker, Garland Bullock, and Curtis Hart. It was completed June 1, 2000. Thanks also go to Lea Ann Tedford  for the use of her partial reading. We have merged the two to help insure no one was missed. There are many unmarked graves, and graves marked only with native rocks.

Update: Thanks to Billy L Thompson, Sue Kennington, and Fendley Tucker, Secretary/Treasurer of the Hopewell Cemetery, for the recent update.  This should make the listing current through May 24, 2009.

He operated a general store in Latch, Upshur Co., Texas for many years until his death and was active in the Hopewell Methodist Church and donated a portion of land on the west side of the present cemetery.
