Old Crow Cemetery

Located about 1.5 miles south of Little Mound Church, on Tangerine Road off Texas Hwy 49, in a private pasture, not easily accessible from the road.

Our thanks go to Stan Stokes for reading this cemetery! Thanks to great volunteers like Stan, we are able to put many small cemeteries online as they are found. Update! Please note that Alice Lane has sent in her Cranfill ancestors that are buried at Old Crow, and they are added at the bottom of the page. We also thank Alice for sending in the above pictures that were taken in 1966. UPDATE! You will see entries in RED. Thanks go to the Upshur County Historical Commission for these additions.

As hard as we all try, we are human and sometimes when reading a cemetery we miss a grave covered with leaves, fireants, or bushes. Sometimes the headstone has sunk and is mostly underground. Our area also has many graves only marked with iron ore rocks and even many unmarked graves. There are headstones that have long ago been destroyed by the elements or even vandalizm, and are hard to impossible to read the details. We would appreciate it if you would let us know if you did not find your relative which was buried
here, and would appreciate your letting us use the information you know about them. With the combined efforts of us all, we can make the Upshur County website bigger and better.

All markers with writing are included below.  Additionally, there were at least 15 unknown graves marked by native rocks only, included two graves covered in large piles of stones.

The writing is shown exactly as on the stones, except where my parenthesis are added for clarification.
