SIMPSONVILLE   CEMETERY
PARTIAL

Page 1

Thanks to Pam Lain for the use of her reading of Simpsonville Cemetery!

Simpsonville Cemetery is located on HWY 556 about 11 miles SW of Pittsburg, Tx in the very small town of Simpsonville, also known as Thomas. The cemetery is located directly behind Simpsonville Baptist Church and Simpsonville Church of Christ. The cemetery is very well maintained and fenced.  The new maintenance people have taken great pains with the cemetery including digging up some  sunken stones.

The census was started on the north side and was done in sections from front to back as family groupings tend to be in groups rather than in straight rows.  Obvious family groups are censused together if they were buried nearby. There is one section which contains quite a few pink marker looking stones.

Pat Bass says: There are 2 unmarked, unidentifiable graves at the rear of the cemetery next to fence, close to Alvin, Vernon, Deliah Bickerstaff. Thomas Bickerstaff remarried 12-26-1915 to Annie Green & they had 3 children, a daughter named Grace & twin boys that died very young. I have been unable to find out their names, date of birth & date of death. My Dad was between 6 & 9 when they would have been born, all I remember him telling about them was where they were buried at. Maybe the blank standing stone by Zelma Bickerstaff belongs to the twins?
